The modernization of the ATT & CIOT membership Portal has strengthened the organizations' ability to support members and students efficiently.

A phased approach minimized risk while delivering measurable improvements, including a seamless login experience, enhanced system reliability, and scalable infrastructure.

As a result, membership engagement increased, operational efficiency improved, and the groundwork was laid for future innovations, such as a public tax advisor search tool.

The outdated Portal struggled to meet growing user demands, leading to poor user experiences, technical failures during peak periods, and high maintenance costs.

Sadly, previous overhaul attempts by other agencies failed due to integration difficulties with legacy systems and dependencies on third-party vendors. These inefficiencies limited ATT & CIOT’s ability to adapt to new requirements and serve their members effectively.

Luckily, we'd done work like this before.

Modernizing a membership association member portal

Rather than attempting a complete rebuild, a phased strategy was implemented to modernize the system step by step.

The first release established a new Single Sign-On (SSO) system, improving user access and security.

The second phase introduced a redesigned student registration system, optimizing performance and reducing downtime. Subsequent phases are ongoing.

This structured approach allowed ATT & CIOT to see immediate benefits while ensuring long-term scalability.

The Portal transformation improved operational resilience and reduced technical disruptions, ensuring members and students could access services without interruption.

System scalability allowed ATT & CIOT to handle peak demand without performance issues, reducing IT overhead.

Despite CRM vendor delays, both organizations are now positioned to expand digital services, reinforcing their leadership in tax education and compliance.

Future phases will continue to enhance the Portal’s capabilities, further strengthening its role as a vital resource for members and the wider public.
